Last weekend, we had the honor of participating in a truly special event that brought together local businesses, detailers, and a deep sense of gratitude to give back to a deserving member of our community.

An Unforgettable Gift for Chris Wood
Chris Wood is the kind of person who is always there for others, always the first to lend a hand or step up when someone needs help. It’s just who he is—selfless, humble, and dependable. That’s exactly why he was the perfect person to surprise in such a big way: because this was the last thing he would ever expect.
Chris, an active-duty service member living in the Concord area but working on the Seacoast, had no idea what was unfolding around him that morning. His beloved MR2, a car with deep sentimental value, was secretly brought to our shop with the help of his brother, Sean Wood, and coordinated by his wife, Jessie Wood. Over the course of a single day, an incredible team of detailers worked to transform the car into something truly extraordinary.
Led by Tucker Mathieson, with contributions from Brent Mathieson, Cristabel Londoño Patiño from Cartago Detailing, Paul Frasco from Pro and Local Detailing, Inc., Andrew Swensen from Wolfeboro Carwash and Executive Detail, and Jim Gougen from Jim’s Auto Installations and Detail Center, the team removed old decals, performed a full paint correction, and applied a ceramic coating to restore the MR2’s brilliance.
Chris had no clue. On the way to brunch, Jessie casually mentioned, "Isn't Tucker's shop nearby?" The comment sparked Chris’s curiosity, prompting him to text Tucker to see what he was up to. It was the perfect opening for Tucker to reply that he just happened to be at the shop wrapping up a pretty cool project and that Chris should stop by. Little did Chris know, every decision he thought he made that day—decisions that felt completely random—was part of a carefully orchestrated plan to lead him to this moment.
When Chris walked into the shop and saw his gleaming MR2, it took him time to process what he was looking at. He was blown away, absolutely mind-blown, and admittedly a little unnerved by how cunningly the plan had been executed. As he later joked, it’s a continual head-scratcher how he didn’t even notice his car was missing! Jessie deserves all the credit for brilliantly distracting him and making it all possible.
As Chris reflected afterward, this wasn’t just about the car. It was about the incredible people in his life who came together to pull off something so meaningful.
Detailing for Heroes: Giving Back to Those Who Serve
This unforgettable surprise was part of Detailing for Heroes, a weekend-long event honoring local veterans and active military members like Chris. Hosted in several locations across the United States, this initiative is part of The Detail Mafia’s nationwide effort to give back to those who have sacrificed so much for our freedoms.
The Detail Mafia is a network of elite professional car care experts operating nationally and internationally. Members not only deliver excellence in automotive detailing but also come together to support one another and their communities. Their dedication to community service is what makes initiatives like Detailing for Heroes possible.
Here in the Seacoast area, we were proud to bring this initiative to life alongside Cartago Detailing, Pro and Local Detailing, Inc., Wolfeboro Carwash and Executive Detail, and Jim’s Auto Installations and Detail Center. Together, we provided complimentary, top-tier detailing services to honor local heroes and ensure their vehicles look as exceptional as the service they’ve given.
