About the program:
For more than 20 years, Renny Doyle and his growing team of elite detailers from around the world have been restoring, maintaining, and preserving the first presidential jet Air Force One known as SAM (Special Air Missions) 970. The plane, which is part of the collection at the Seattle Museum of Flight served Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon. It also entertained many international VIPs such as Nikita Khrushchev and Henry Kissinger.
In 2002, Renny received a call from a Bush administration official asking him to bring a team to Seattle’s Museum of Flight to clean and restore the deteriorating paint and aluminum finish on the historical jet. In 2003, Renny and a small staff started the restoration project.
In 2020, Renny Doyle and The Detail Mafia had to skip what would have been their 17th consecutive year detailing Air Force One. The following year, at the last minute, the 2021 project became a reality, but on a smaller scale than previous years due to Covid-19 restrictions. The team was limited to 20 carefully selected detailers
Doyle chooses his team members very carefully from The Detail Mafia, a group of some of the most prestigious and highly skilled detailers in the world that he has certified over the years through his Detailing Success training program. Many of them are senior members of the team that go back to the original restoration project in 2003, while he also tries to bring in at least 10 first -time team members or "rookies" every year who have proven themselves meticulous paint correction and polishing craftsmen.
All Air Force One Team members are volunteers; successful detailing business owners who pay their own way to Seattle and donate their time and skills to the project, as they consider it their patriotic duty.
About Tucker and Revive:
Revive Auto Detailing is located in Greenland, NH and is now in its 7th year of business. What started out as a one man business has morphed into a successful family owned and operated, brick and mortar business with a team of about 9 detailers. With over 250 five star Google reviews, Revive has become one of the most trusted detail businesses in New Hampshire. This is due in large part to their dedication to continued education and training in their field.
Back in 2021 both Tucker and his father, Brent Mathieson flew to Big Bear, California to train with Renny Doyle of Detailing Success. Along with this training, both father and son are also members of the International Detailers Association (IDA) as well as hold the title of Certified Detailers, Skills Validated which there are only about 30 other detailers in the New England area that share this level of training. This highly trained skill set allows them to approach their craft with confidence and high touch results.
In 2022, because of their continued commitment to raising the bar for the detail community, both Tucker and Brent were invited back to Big Bear as interns for the Detailing Success Training and serve as peer mentors to the new trainees. Brent interned the January class while Tucker interned in March.
Not long after, in April of this 2022 the invitation was extended for them to join the elite team of detailers for the Air Force One Project. Knowing only one of them could attend, Brent stepped aside allowing Tucker the opportunity to work alongside some of the best of the best in the industry and continue to hone his skill set. At 26 years old and only having been detailing professionally for the last 3 years it is an incredible honor and privilege for Tucker as well as Revive.
Tucker joined Revive back in 2019 after selling his own mobile interior repair business to work alongside his father. Through hard work and dedication he earned the title of Lead Detailer in 2021 and most recently was named General Manager and Chief Operations Officer.
In 2022 wife and mom, Jennifer officially joined the Revive team as Chief Creative Officer making it a true family adventure.
After a few years, Renny opened up the project to a team of experienced detailers who had been through his training. This highly specialized and selective team of detailers returns every year as caretakers of Air Force One. Over the years, the project has grown to include dozens of other iconic aircraft including the Concorde “Alpha Golf”, the first-ever 747 (Serial No. 001), a WWII B-29 Superfortress known as “T-Square 54”, and the first Boeing 727 built. This year, the renowned detailers will continue the preservation of five significant and historic aircraft that they have been restoring over the past two decades:
Boeing VC-137B SAM 970 "Air Force One"
Boeing B-29 Superfortress "T-Square 54"
Concorde G-BOAG "Alpha Golf"
Boeing 727 "Serial No. 001"
Lockheed 1049G Super Constellation "Connie"
